A tragic incident occurred at the Mehsana Civil Hospital, causing shock and concern among staff and visitors. A 23-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh, Monu Radheshyam, fell from the third floor of the hospital’s re-development building on the night of July 3, 2025. Monu was sitting on a stretcher ramp, looking at his mobile phone when he lost his balance and fell. The fall resulted in serious injuries.
Following the incident, Monu was rushed to the trauma center of Mehsana Civil Hospital. Medical staff worked quickly to provide treatment, but despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries around 1:30 AM. The sad news has left hospital employees, Monu’s family, and the local community in mourning.
Currently, the hospital is undergoing a re-development and reconstruction project managed by the Surat-based M.D.H. Patel Agency. This initiative aims to modernize and enhance hospital facilities. However, the recent incident raises serious questions about safety measures at construction sites.
Upon learning of the incident, the A-Division police arrived at the scene to begin an investigation. Monu’s brother provided a statement to the police confirming the details of the fall. Authorities have registered the incident as an accidental death and will conduct further inquiries into the matter. They will specifically investigate whether safety standards were adhered to at the construction site.
This incident highlights the importance of ensuring safety on construction sites, especially in large projects like re-developments where many workers and visitors are present. There is still a need for clarity regarding the presence of safety measures such as railings, signs, or other precautions in areas like stretcher ramps. Local residents and Monu’s family have called for stricter safety regulations on construction sites to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
As the investigation unfolds, it is hoped that lessons will be learned to improve safety protocols and ensure the well-being of everyone involved in such projects. The community is rallying around Monu’s family during this difficult time, and many are urging for a thorough review of safety practices at public hospitals undergoing construction.
