In Patan city, a sudden lightning strike on Thursday morning resulted in the death of a young man and two animals, causing shock among residents. The incident occurred amidst heavy rainfall and strong winds, which came with the arrival of the monsoon season. The young man, identified as Alpejji Jalamji Thakor, aged 25, was near the Madotri bus stand when the lightning struck. Sadly, he died at the scene. In addition to the tragedy involving the young man, two buffaloes also lost their lives due to the lightning strike.
The storm caused other damages as well. An old tamarind tree in Pragati Maidan fell, but fortunately, no students from the nearby B.M. School were injured as they were not present at the time.
Local authorities, including the mayor, quickly visited the affected areas. They inspected the situation and called in officials from the irrigation department to address the damage caused by the storm. The irrigation canal near Padmakutir was severely impacted, leading to immediate repair works being planned.
