The first incident occurred when a 30-year-old man fell into the Sabarmati River while trying to take a selfie. Reports indicate that he lost his footing and was swept away by the strong current. The young man was identified as Nilesh Parmar from Katosan village in Mehsana district. His friends and family were devastated by the news.
Fire teams from Himatnagar, Idar, and Vijapur, along with 40 firefighters, began searching for Nilesh immediately after the incident. After more than 12 hours of searching, they sadly recovered his body from the river.
In a separate incident, another young man fell while taking a selfie near a waterfall in Kanadar, Vijaynagar. He also lost his balance, leading to a fatal accident. Local authorities were alerted, and the police and fire brigade rushed to the scene to conduct a search for him.
Despite repeated warnings about the dangers of taking selfies near water bodies, many tourists continue to ignore safety precautions. They venture close to the edges of rivers and waterfalls, often resulting in tragic accidents.
