In a shocking incident in Anand’s Vasad village, a husband has been accused of murdering his wife after a heated argument about divorce and property. The victim, Bhavika, had recently eloped with her lover but was brought back home by community leaders. The couple’s troubles began again just a day after her return.
According to reports, Bhavika had left home with her boyfriend, Krishnadas, without informing anyone on May 31, 2025. When her husband, Jignesh Kanthibhai Patel, found out, he reported her missing to the Vasad police. On June 5, Bhavika and Krishnadas returned to the police station voluntarily, and after discussions led by community elders, Bhavika was sent back home with Jignesh.
However, on June 6, tensions flared between the couple. Bhavika demanded half of their property as part of a divorce settlement. Jignesh, feeling provoked, allegedly strangled her during an argument. He confessed to the crime during police interrogation, stating that the confrontation escalated quickly.
The couple had been living together with their six-year-old son, Naksh, and Jignesh’s mother, Taraben. The situation became deadly when Bhavika insisted on filing for divorce and was also considering taking their son with her. Jignesh reportedly became enraged and attacked her in their bedroom, leading to her tragic death.
After the incident, Jignesh attempted to cover up the crime by returning to the fields and later informing relatives about Bhavika’s death. When he went to the police station to report her death, authorities became suspicious and arrested him after confirming the circumstances surrounding her death.
The case highlights the severe issues surrounding domestic disputes and the tragic outcomes they can lead to. Vasad police have registered a case against Jignesh for murder and are conducting further investigations into the incident.
