In a shocking incident, a young man named Mohibul Islam was killed over a joke regarding money in his bank account. The events unfolded in Changodar, a town near Ahmedabad, where the police have made two arrests in connection with the case. The victim had jokingly told his friends that he had two lakh rupees (200,000 Indian Rupees) in his bank account. This remark led to a deadly plan by his friends to take advantage of him.
On March 16, the body of Mohibul was found near railway tracks in Tajpur village, close to Changodar. His face was burned, making identification difficult. The police began their investigation following the report of a missing person from a local graphics company where Mohibul worked. By March 17, his colleagues reported that he had not shown up for work, leading to concerns for his safety.
Investigating officers traced his mobile phone records and interviewed his family and co-workers. This led them to the two accused: Santlal Gautam from Uttar Pradesh and Rohit Singh God from Madhya Pradesh. The police discovered that both men had been working with Mohibul for about 25 days.
The motive behind the murder was the joke Mohibul made about having a large sum of money. The two men, feeling tempted, devised a plan to kill him. On March 6, after they finished work, they lured Mohibul to a secluded area near the railway line. They had brought a rope from the company to strangle him. When the rope broke, they used the shoelace from Mohibul’s boots to complete the act.
After killing him, they transferred 800 rupees from his bank account, but their plan to dispose of the body was not successful. They attempted to throw his body under a train but failed. Instead, they dumped it in a nearby drainage area and tried to destroy evidence by burning his face with a T-shirt.
The swift action from the police led to the capture of the suspects, who had planned to flee back to their home towns after the murder. Investigators are now looking into how the two men were able to gain access to Mohibul’s mobile phone and bank details. The case highlights the dangers of joking about money and how it can lead to tragic outcomes. Authorities are urging people to be more cautious in their interactions, especially with sensitive topics like finances.
The community is in shock over this incident, which serves as a grim reminder of the potential consequences of greed and betrayal among friends. The police have reassured residents that they are taking this case seriously and are committed to delivering justice for Mohibul Islam.
