Tragic Plane Crash in Ahmedabad: Over 100 Bodies Found

A tragic incident occurred in Ahmedabad when an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed. The aircraft had a total of 242 people on board, including former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani. Among the passengers, there were 169 Indians, 53 British, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian citizen. Reports indicate that around 100 bodies have already been discovered at the crash site.

The flight, AI-171, took off at 1:38 PM and crashed just two minutes later at 1:40 PM. According to preliminary information, the plane crashed near the airport wall and close to the air cargo office. As soon as the aircraft hit the ground, plumes of smoke filled the area, creating a chaotic scene.

The aircraft collided with a building where doctors from Ahmedabad Civil Hospital resided. It is reported that over 15 doctors have sustained injuries due to the crash.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner involved in the accident is manufactured by the American company Boeing. Air India, under the Tata Group, operates daily flights from Ahmedabad to London. The Boeing 787-8 typically has a seating capacity of between 254 and 267 in business and economy classes.

In response to the tragedy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu. The minister informed the Prime Minister about the accident details. Following this, Naidu is heading to Ahmedabad to assess the situation himself. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also travelling to Ahmedabad in light of the incident.

Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his deep sorrow regarding the unfortunate plane crash, stating that he cannot fully describe the tragedy in words. A disaster response team has been dispatched to the crash site immediately. Amit Shah has been in contact with Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat’s Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi, and the Ahmedabad Police Commissioner to evaluate the situation.

Amit Shah assured all necessary central assistance for rescue and relief operations at the crash site.

Former Minister Bhupendra Singh Chudasama has also visited the residence of former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was a passenger on the ill-fated flight. The situation remains critical as rescue teams work to recover more bodies and provide aid to the injured.

This tragic event has shocked the local community and raised concerns about air safety. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and more updates will follow as authorities gather information from the scene.
