In a tragic incident in Jagana village, Palanpur, a police constable named Vitthal Chouhan took his own life by hanging himself in his room. Before his death, Chouhan wrote a suicide note levelling serious accusations against senior police officials, causing unrest in the police department. As per recent information, the police have not yet filed a complaint regarding the matter.
Constable Vitthal Chouhan had been suspended while on duty in Bhuj and was currently serving in Surat rural. In his suicide note, he alleged that he faced mental harassment from his superiors. He specifically named SP Vikas Munda, PI B.P. Kharadi, and a medical officer from Naliya CHC, accusing them of causing him significant distress.
Chouhan mentioned that he was caught drinking while on duty during a security arrangement at Jokhau in Bhuj, which led to his suspension. He claimed that after this incident, he was subjected to continuous mental harassment by the officials, which ultimately drove him to take such a drastic step.
The incident has caused a significant uproar among the family members of the deceased. They have accused the police of delaying the filing of a complaint due to the involvement of the accused officials. The family has made it clear that they will not accept the body until a formal complaint is registered.
At Palanpur Civil Hospital, the family members staged a protest demanding the registration of a complaint against Vikas Munda and B.P. Kharadi, chanting slogans against the police.
