Anand, Gujarat, hosted a significant event recently. The Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) celebrated the 44th convocation of Tribhuwan Cooperative University. The ceremony took place in the presence of the Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat. He awarded degrees to 329 postgraduate students and presented gold medals to the top achievers. The event highlighted the importance of cooperative values in rural development.
During the ceremony, Governor Devvrat reflected on the vision of great leaders like Dr. Verghese Kurien, Tribhuvandas Patel, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. These leaders aimed to uplift rural farmers and communities, bringing them closer to urban conveniences and development opportunities. Their efforts have significantly contributed to India’s sense of equality and unity.
The Governor congratulated all graduates and acknowledged the vital role of teachers and parents in shaping students’ lives. He emphasized the sacrifices made by parents to ensure their children’s education, urging students to appreciate their efforts.
In his speech, Governor Devvrat invoked teachings from the Taittiriya Upanishad. He encouraged students to promote knowledge through truth, righteousness, and education. He stated that truth dispels darkness and leads to a stress-free life. He urged the graduates to use their knowledge for the welfare of society and humanity.
The Governor remarked that human life is not solely about basic needs like food, clothing, and shelter. Instead, true humanity is defined by compassion, tolerance, and altruism. He stressed that education should awaken values of humanity and morality.
He praised the contributions of IRMA and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to rural development. He highlighted the success of sex-sorted semen technology, which aims to double the impact on the dairy sector. This technology is expected to enhance the economic prosperity of dairy farmers and livestock owners.
The Governor noted that the cooperative movement that originated in Gujarat has now become global. He asserted that the ongoing cooperative efforts in Gujarat are strengthening rural areas and contributing significantly to the vision of a developed India by 2047.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also addressed the gathering. He stated that the government is committed to ensuring that marginalized individuals do not face hardships and can join the mainstream. He emphasized the importance of government schemes that reach every household, enabling people to become economically empowered.
During the dialogue program in Bhadran, a village in Anand district, the Chief Minister assured solutions to the issues raised by villagers. He highlighted the government’s proactive approach in addressing citizens’ concerns through community engagement.
The Chief Minister also announced the allocation of additional land for housing the homeless and funding for a sewage treatment plant to manage wastewater effectively. He encouraged local industries to provide employment opportunities for the youth.
