The state of Gujarat is mourning the loss of former Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani. He passed away in a tragic accident in Ahmedabad. In his memory, a unique tribute was held by the Rajpur Disa Panjrapol on Saturday. This event celebrated his love for all living beings. Leaders, Jain community members, and trustees from cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Surat attended the ceremony. The Panjrapol provides food for over 9,000 animals daily, costing around ₹4.25 lakh. On this day, the entire supply of grass was dedicated to Vijaybhai Rupani. Grass carts, adorned with his photographs, were sent around the Panjrapol, symbolising respect and gratitude. Attendees shouted, “Vijaybhai Rupani Amar Raho,” showing their love and respect for him.
Vijaybhai Rupani was known for his simplicity, sensitivity, and commitment to animal welfare. During his tenure as Chief Minister, he established strict laws to protect animals, showcasing his dedication to the cause. In 2017, when floods struck Banaskantha, he remained on-site for over a week to oversee relief and rehabilitation efforts. This commitment highlighted his genuine dedication to the people.
Rupani was also known for his efforts to prevent the export of over 16,000 goats for slaughter, demonstrating his strong feelings about animal rights. His financial support for Panjrapols and cow shelters continues to sustain many animals today.
During the tribute, all present remembered Rupani’s humble and compassionate nature. There was a shared sentiment that Gujarat lost a devoted leader who was hard to replace. In tribute to him, everyone prayed for peace for his soul, hoping that his memory would remain eternal. Rupani was a dedicated member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and served as the Chief Minister from 2016 until 2021. His legacy will continue to inspire many in Gujarat and beyond.
