Upcoming By-elections in Gujarat: Kadi and Visavadar

The Gujarat Election Commission has announced the by-elections for two assembly constituencies: Kadi and Visavadar. These important elections will take place on June 19, 2025, with the vote counting scheduled for June 23, 2025. The call for these by-elections follows the unfortunate vacancy in the Kadi assembly seat due to the passing of its member, Karshan Solanki. In Visavadar, the seat became vacant after the resignation of Bhupat Bhayani from Congress, who later joined the BJP. Candidates began filing their nominations starting from May 26, 2025, with the last date for nominations being June 2, 2025. This election is expected to be competitive, especially between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC). In Kadi, several candidates from various parties have already submitted their nomination papers. The BJP has fielded Rajendra Chavda, while the INC has Ramesh Chavda as their candidate. Many other parties, including the Aam Aadmi Party and independent candidates, are also participating. In Visavadar, the competition is also heating up with candidates from the BJP, INC, and others entering the fray. The Election Commission emphasized the importance of participation and urged voters to exercise their right to vote. Voter registration and the submission of necessary documents are crucial for candidates. The election process aims to ensure transparency and fairness. Results will be available shortly after the counting. Voters can find candidate affidavits and more information on the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer of Gujarat. This upcoming election is seen as a litmus test for the BJP, which has historically dominated these seats, and the INC, which hopes to regain ground. Voters in Gujarat are encouraged to be proactive and participate in the democratic process.
