Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit Postponed to 2027, Regional Summits Planned for 2025-26

The Gujarat government has decided to postpone the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) until 2027. This decision comes as the state aims to attract investments at the district level. Instead of the main summit, four regional mini summits will be held in 2025 and 2026.

The first mini summit will take place in Mehsana on October 9-10, 2025. This summit will focus on sectors such as agriculture, food processing, auto components, pharmaceuticals, engineering, and green energy. After Mehsana, three more summits are planned: Rajkot in January 2026, Surat in April 2026, and Vadodara in July 2026. Each city will host a two-day event highlighting key industries in their regions.

The postponement of the VGGS was influenced by the timeline of the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections. Originally, the summit was scheduled for 2025, but the state government’s focus has now shifted to regional summits to decentralise industrial growth. The aim is to use the unique industrial strengths of various parts of the state.

The Gujarat Industries Department is already working on the tender process for these summits. They plan to hire agencies for trade shows, exhibitions, and public relations. The focus will be on sectors like fintech and semiconductors to boost investment attraction.

A senior official from the Industries Department mentioned that the regional summits will play a crucial role in promoting local industries. Each summit aims to create networking opportunities for businesses and foster partnerships across different sectors.

The Vibrant Gujarat summit series began in 2003, with the last summit held in 2024. Over the years, it has become a significant platform for investment and economic growth in the state. The state government has hosted ten summits so far, attracting thousands of participants from various countries.

The upcoming mini summits will not only focus on business but also on creating job opportunities and public participation at the grassroots level. The government hopes that these regional events will pave the way for sustainable industrial development and enhance local employment.

In summary, while the main Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit will not occur until 2027, the four regional summits will provide important opportunities for investment and industrial growth in Gujarat. This strategy reflects the government’s commitment to decentralising economic development and empowering local communities.
