Vote Counting Begins in Banaskantha Amid Tight Security

The vote counting for the Gram Panchayat elections 2025 has started peacefully in Banaskantha district. The process began at 9 AM with tight police deployment to ensure safety. Counting is taking place at all 14 taluka headquarters in the district. Out of 322 panchayats, 303 are general, while 19 are for by-elections. The average voter turnout for the general elections was 83.50%, while it was 63.24% for the by-elections.

More than 1,800 staff members, including election officers, assistants, and police personnel, are involved in the counting process. The counting venues include various schools and college buildings across the talukas. For example, in Palanpur taluka, counting is held at the Government Engineering College, while in Vadgam taluka, it takes place at V.J. Patel High School.

Danta taluka uses the first floor of Sar Bhavanisingh School for counting, and rooms 6 to 12 in Amirgarh School are designated for Amirgarh taluka. Counting for Disa taluka is at the D.N.P. Girls Primary School, and Kankrej taluka’s counting happens in rooms 10 to 14 at Model School Ratanpura.

Each counting centre is equipped to handle the counting process efficiently. Officials are optimistic about a smooth counting day, reflecting the peaceful atmosphere during the elections. The panchayat elections are significant for local governance, allowing community members to elect their representatives.

Banaskantha is located in the northern part of Gujarat. It is known for its diverse geography, which includes both hilly and flat regions. The district comprises six talukas after the recent formation of new districts. With a population of over 3 million, Banaskantha offers a blend of culture and tradition.
