War Hero Inspires Future Leaders at IIM Raipur Bootcamp

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur recently held a successful bootcamp for emerging managers. This event took place from June 22 to June 29, 2023. The bootcamp aimed to prepare the next generation of entrepreneurs. It focused on developing administrative skills, ethical sensitivity, and community awareness among young business leaders.

A key speaker at the closing ceremony was Lieutenant General Ashok Kumar Jindal. He is a renowned war hero and an expert in the health sector. He has received prestigious awards, including the Param Vishisht Seva Medal and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, for his outstanding services. As the Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Raipur, he shared valuable insights from his military and medical career.

General Jindal urged the students to prioritise ethics over profit in healthcare. He emphasised the importance of community welfare and encouraged the participants to explore digital twin modelling in healthcare. He also highlighted the significance of organ donation and its impact on society.

The closing ceremony was also attended by notable IIM Raipur staff, including Director Prof. Ram Kumar Kakani, Prof. Satyasiba Das, and Prof. Diptymohan Banerjee. They stressed that leadership today requires not only management skills but also a strong commitment to stability, vision, and service.

Prof. Kakani explained that the bootcamp was not just about academic learning. It aimed to break mental barriers and foster a mindset that values collective goals over individual excellence. He stated, “Leadership begins with silence, selflessness, and service.”

The bootcamp included retired IAS, IPS, and IRS officers, along with corporate experts with over 100 years of combined CXO-level management experience. These included professionals like Dr. Pushp Kumar Joshi, Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra, Mr. Vinod P. Menon, Mr. Satish Anand, Mr. Mahankali Srinivas Rao, Mr. Sandeep Roy, Mr. Rakesh Mishra, and Ms. Purnima Dore.

The event was a significant step in shaping the future of business leaders in India. It provided a platform for young managers to learn from experienced professionals and gain insights into ethical leadership. IIM Raipur continues to play a vital role in nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs, ensuring they are equipped to face the challenges of a complex world.
