Starting today, Ahmedabad will experience a water supply disruption for three days. This will affect several areas in the city due to repair work on the Shedi Canal gate. From July 9 to July 11, 2023, residents in 17 wards across three zones will face reduced water availability. The affected zones include North, East, and South Ahmedabad.
The wards impacted are Maninagar, Isanpur, Indrapuri, Amraiwadi, Hatkeshwar, Bapunagar, and Thakkarnagar, among others. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has confirmed these disruptions.
Dilip Bagadia, the chairman of the AMC Water Committee, explained that the repair work on the Shedi Canal gate is necessary. The water level in the canal has been reduced as a result. This means that the usual gravity-fed water supply will be less than normal. To manage this issue, some water will be diverted from the Kotarpur area.
Residents should prepare for limited water supply during this period. The supply will be less in the evening, but there may be some water available in the morning. The AMC has advised residents to make arrangements accordingly.
This situation highlights the need for ongoing maintenance of water infrastructure in Ahmedabad. Repair work like this is crucial to ensure a reliable water supply in the long term. The AMC aims to complete the repairs quickly to restore normal water service as soon as possible.
Residents are encouraged to store enough water during this disruption to meet their daily needs. The AMC is working hard to minimise the inconvenience caused by this temporary measure. Communication will be provided to residents about any changes in the water supply schedule.
In conclusion, while the repair work on the Shedi Canal gate is necessary for future water supply stability, it does mean that residents will experience a reduced water supply for three days. The AMC is taking steps to manage this situation and keep residents informed.
Please check local updates for any further information regarding the water supply during this time.
