In Morbi, a young man was kidnapped after losing ₹3 lakhs in cricket betting. The victim, 19-year-old Vansh Ubhadiya, filed a complaint against four men. These men are Mahesh, also known as Rahul Ramabhai Dangar, Shivam Babubhai Jariya, and Divyesh Rameshbhai Dangar, along with an unknown person. Vansh lives in the village of Khevariya in Morbi.
Vansh reported that he had been frequently winning and losing money through cricket betting. He began betting with Shivam Jariya, who initially offered him a chance to win ₹1.10 lakh. However, Shivam soon pressured him to place larger bets of over ₹50,000. This led Vansh to continue betting, hoping to recover his losses.
On April 27, Vansh learned from Shivam that he had lost ₹40,000. Shivam then called his friend Rahul Dangar, who threatened Vansh, demanding the money. Vansh found himself trapped in this betting game, continuing to place bets on ongoing cricket matches, including IPL and international matches.
On May 11, both Shivam and Mahesh again threatened Vansh, insisting that he must pay them. They warned him that if he did not, they would come to his home. Fearing for his safety, Vansh blocked their numbers.
On May 15, Vansh and his friend Manoj Muchhidiya were travelling near the Morbi-Kandla bypass. Suddenly, Mahesh Dangar, Shivam Jariya, Divyesh Dangar, and an unknown man approached them on two motorcycles. They threatened Vansh with violence and forcibly took his phone. Mahesh then got on Vansh’s vehicle, taking control and driving him towards nearby villages while demanding payment.
This incident highlights the risks associated with illegal betting in India. Many young people get trapped in a cycle of gambling, leading to severe consequences. The police have been informed, and investigations are ongoing to ensure the safety of Vansh and to hold the kidnappers accountable. This case raises awareness about the dangers of cricket betting, especially as it grows in popularity during major tournaments.
Authorities urge young people to stay away from betting and gambling to avoid similar situations. It is crucial to seek help if you or someone you know is struggling with gambling addiction. The police remind the public that gambling is illegal and can lead to severe legal and personal repercussions.
