In Ambaji, a significant upgrade has occurred at the General Hospital. The government has approved an increase in bed capacity from 50 to 100. This change is vital as there is no other major hospital nearby, and the number of patients has been growing daily. The region often experiences accidents, making the hospital’s limited capacity a challenge. Previously, many cases had to be referred to the Palanpur Civil Hospital due to staff shortages and insufficient beds. Dr. Y.K. Makwana, the superintendent of Ambaji General Hospital, made a strong case to the government for this upgrade.
Alongside the increase in beds, the hospital has also expanded its facilities. This includes the addition of dialysis services, which are crucial for the local tribal women, especially during childbirth when they often require blood. Before this upgrade, blood had to be transported from Palanpur, causing delays and complications.
The upgrade allows for a blood storage unit and a blood bank at the hospital. To mark this improvement, a blood donation camp was organized in collaboration with the Pathani Voluntary Blood Bank from Palanpur. Many hospital staff and local residents participated, donating blood generously. With the hospital now having 100 beds, there will be an increase in specialist doctors and staff. This enhancement is expected to significantly reduce the number of cases that need to be referred to Palanpur.
Dr. Makwana expressed optimism about the future, stating that the upgraded facilities will provide better healthcare for the community. The blood donation camp was a success, highlighting the importance of community involvement in healthcare initiatives. Local volunteers and hospital staff worked together to ensure the camp ran smoothly, encouraging many to come forward and donate.
In conclusion, the Ambaji General Hospital has taken a significant step towards improving healthcare in the region. With the increase in beds and the establishment of a blood bank, the hospital is now better equipped to serve the local population. This upgrade not only enhances immediate healthcare services but also fosters a spirit of community support through initiatives like the blood donation camp.
