Danta Taluka Still Lacks ST Bus Station Despite Its Importance

Danta Taluka, located in Banaskantha district of Gujarat, is known as an Adivasi and backward area. Despite being the administrative headquarters, it lacks a proper ST bus station. Danta is historically significant, often referred to as Danta State during the princely era, and is connected to 186 villages, serving as a commercial hub for nearby areas. Currently, there is no permanent bus station in Danta. Instead, there is only a pick-up stand in the middle of the village. Passengers are suffering in the sweltering heat with no shade or toilet facilities for women. Buses are brought into the busy market area, creating dangerous situations, and there have been concerns about accidents. Express buses do not stop at this pick-up stand and instead pass directly on the highway. This has made life difficult for local traders and students who rely on these buses. The old bus station is in a state of neglect, and the ST Corporation has not addressed the issue adequately. Many believe that if a new bus station is built at a different location, it would resolve the travel issues for passengers. The old bus station, built in 1996 at great expense, has now turned into ruins, where only thorny bushes grow. While the station was inaugurated by the then Transport Minister, it has become a ghostly sight with no travelers visiting during the day or night. KP Chauhan, the manager of the Ambaji ST depot, stated that a request for a new location for the bus station has been made. It is hoped that this will improve the situation for passengers who currently face numerous challenges.
