DNA Matches Confirm 32 Victims from Air India Plane Crash in Ahmedabad

In a tragic incident on June 12, an Air India flight heading to London crashed in Ahmedabad. The devastating crash resulted in the loss of many lives, with all but one passenger and crew member confirmed dead. On June 15, authorities announced that DNA samples from 32 victims had been matched with their families. This information was shared by Dr. Rajnish Patel, the Additional Superintendent of Civil Hospital, during a press briefing at noon. So far, 14 bodies have been returned to their families for burial. The deceased include four individuals from Ahmedabad, two from Vadodara, one each from Kheda, Aravalli, and Botad, and four from Mehsana, along with one from Udaipur. Each family has been assigned a dedicated team consisting of a senior official, a police officer, and a professional counsellor to support them during this difficult time. The process of handing over the bodies is ongoing, with authorities working diligently to ensure that the remaining bodies are identified and released soon. The tragic loss of life has left a deep impact on the families and the community. As they grieve, many political leaders have visited the homes of the deceased to offer their condolences, including the family of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was also confirmed among the victims. The crash has raised concerns over air safety and has prompted calls for thorough investigations to prevent such incidents in the future.
