Heavy Rain Brings Relief to Naswadi Taluka

Naswadi Taluka in Gujarat has seen heavy rainfall over the last two days. This downpour has brought much-needed relief to around 200 villages that were facing a water shortage. The Ashwin River, which flows through the region, has risen, ensuring that animals and people have enough drinking water.

In Kukawati village, the low-level causeway over the Ashwin River has become a challenge for residents. A part of the concrete slab has broken, making it dangerous for people trying to cross. The villagers are now risking their lives to pass through the area.

The Ashwin River runs for about 60 kilometres before merging with the Narmada River. With the recent rains, the water levels in the bore wells and hand pumps in nearby villages are expected to rise, which should alleviate the water scarcity.

However, the situation at the causeway in Kukawati is concerning. The causeway connects five villages, and the rising waters have created difficulties for those who need to travel. Local authorities have not yet addressed the issue, leaving residents frustrated and worried.

Heavy rains in the surrounding areas of Chhota Udaipur district have affected several low-level causeways. People in these regions are likely to face difficulties during the monsoon season ahead. The lack of timely action from local officials continues to leave villagers in distress.

While the rains have provided relief from the water crisis, the damaged causeway highlights the need for immediate repairs and better infrastructure to ensure the safety of residents. Local authorities must take prompt action to prevent further hardships for the people of Naswadi Taluka during the rainy season.
