In Banaskantha district, Kunvarjibhai Bavaliya, the state’s Water Resources and Supply Minister, visited several water supply sites. His goal was to communicate with local residents about ongoing water supply projects. During his visit, he inspected the Mitha sub-head works and the strengthening of the Gadh branch canal in Palanpur taluka.
Minister Bavaliya stated that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel prioritised irrigation projects to double farmers’ incomes. Various initiatives are underway in the state to raise groundwater levels, such as ‘Catch the Rain’ and ‘Sujalam Sufalam’. These efforts are crucial for ensuring ample water supply, especially in the summer heat.
The minister assured locals that the government has made arrangements to prevent water shortages for people and livestock. Discussions were held with officials on how to improve water delivery to areas like Diyodar and Bhabhar, which often experience low water availability.
At Mitha, he engaged with residents from villages like Vadana, Khara, Kunwala, and Sanesda. He addressed issues regarding areas lacking proper water supply. The minister instructed officials to provide tankers and drill new borewells where necessary.
The Mitha sub-head works are part of the Narmada Canal-based BK 4 Phase 3B water supply scheme, which has a capacity of 10 lakh litres. This centre supplies water to over 26,000 people across 11 villages.
The summer season poses a challenge for water accessibility, but the government is committed to ensuring that every household has access to drinking water. These initiatives are expected to significantly improve the quality of life for residents in Banaskantha.
Bavaliya’s visit reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing water infrastructure and supporting the farming community. Through these efforts, the state aims to create a sustainable water supply system that benefits both rural and urban areas. The minister’s proactive approach in engaging with the community shows a dedication to addressing local concerns and improving living conditions for all.
