In a significant move to boost sports in India, Adani International School has joined hands with the International Schools Sports Organisation (ISSO). This partnership aims to enhance the sports education framework in international curriculum schools across the country. Mrs. Namrata Adani, the promoter of Adani International School, has taken a key role by joining ISSO’s Advisory Board. She will help shape the vision and long-term goals of the organisation.
ISSO, founded in 2017, is the only sports body in India dedicated to international schools that follow global curricula like the International Baccalaureate (IB), Cambridge, and Edexcel. Currently, ISSO collaborates with over 430 schools, offering 22 sports disciplines and organising more than 300 tournaments each year. This initiative has positively impacted over 22,000 students, establishing ISSO as a leader in school-level sports excellence.
Through this new partnership, Adani International School will support ISSO in enhancing sports infrastructure and improving athlete training. The goal is to create opportunities for students to participate in global sporting events. Both institutions believe in balancing academics with physical education, which will help develop well-rounded student-athletes.
Aakanksha Thapak, the director of ISSO, expressed excitement about the collaboration. She said, “We are delighted to welcome Mrs. Namrata Adani and the Adani Group as part of our shared vision for youth empowerment through sports.” Thapak highlighted the importance of structured pathways for students to grow through competitive sports, from grassroots to national and international levels.
Namrata Adani shared her vision for the partnership. She stated, “We aim to create inclusive, future-ready institutions where students are empowered to pursue excellence both in the classroom and on the sports field.” This collaboration is seen as a chance to establish a structured sports culture that meets global benchmarks for international schools in India.
ISSO’s collaboration with national and international sports bodies, such as the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) and the International School Sport Federation (ISF), has already enabled Indian students to compete at high levels. With Adani’s support, the partnership is expected to provide even more opportunities for students to participate in prestigious events like the Khelo India Games, Subroto Cup, and ISF World Championships.
The Adani International School-ISSO collaboration emphasizes the need for transparent and professionally managed competitions. These competitions can significantly enhance student-athlete profiles for global university admissions, allowing them to excel in both academics and sports.
This partnership marks an important step in India’s educational and sporting landscape. It aims to empower the next generation of students to dream beyond boundaries, encouraging them to excel in all aspects of their lives. As this initiative unfolds, it promises to inspire thousands of young athletes across international schools in India. The future looks bright for sports education, thanks to the innovative approach of Adani International School and ISSO.
