Two students from Ahmedabad have made their mark in the Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT) conducted by the Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM-I). They have secured ranks among the top 100 in this competitive exam, which is a gateway to a five-year post-Class 12 management degree. Mahaveer Kankaliya achieved an impressive All India Rank of 38, while Ramita Jain followed closely with Rank 54. The IPMAT saw participation from 16,357 students across India this year, including 6,624 female candidates and 9,733 male candidates. Only 818 students received Aptitude Test Scores, indicating the exam’s challenging nature. Mahaveer, a student from Firdaus Amrut Centre School in Shahibaug, highlighted the strategic advantage of the IPMAT route. He explained, “It helps bypass the intense competition of the CAT exam later. I get to complete my graduation from an IIM, which will strengthen my profile even if I choose to appear for CAT in the future.” He focused on consistent revision rather than tracking the number of hours spent studying. Meanwhile, Ramita, who completed her schooling in Lucknow, expressed her strong interest in management. Her father, Prof. Rajesh Jain, is a faculty member at IRMA, Gujarat, and previously worked at IIM Ranchi. She said, “I was advised to take up engineering after opting for mathematics in Class 12 Science, but I’ve always been inclined toward management.” Ramita followed a disciplined study schedule, dedicating an additional four hours daily to her preparation alongside school and tutorials. She practised mock tests on various online platforms. The IPMAT is crucial for students aiming to enter the prestigious IIMs. It allows students to secure their place in management programs without going through the CAT exam later. The results from this year’s IPMAT will encourage more students to consider management as a viable career path. With the guidance from their families and their hard work, Mahaveer and Ramita have set a great example for aspiring students everywhere. Their success stories highlight the importance of dedication and the right approach to studies. As the IPMAT continues to grow in popularity, many students will be inspired by their achievements. This success not only reflects the hard work of these students but also the quality of education provided in Ahmedabad. Both Mahaveer and Ramita’s stories serve as motivation for future candidates aiming to excel in competitive exams. The journey to management education is tough, but with determination, students can achieve their dreams.
