Ahmedabad Traffic Police Join Saiyaara Trend to Promote Helmet Awareness

As the excitement around the movie ‘Saiyaara’ grows in India, the Ahmedabad Traffic Police have joined the trend to promote road safety. They recently took to their social media account to encourage citizens to wear helmets while riding with their partners, referred to as ‘Saiyaara’. The police used a clip from the movie in their message. The post read, “Going for a drive with Saiyaara? Then make the helmet your companion too… Otherwise, your love will remain incomplete.” This message aims to highlight the importance of safety on the roads, especially for two-wheeler riders.

The movie ‘Saiyaara’, released on July 18, has become a sensation among audiences. By its fourth day, it had already crossed the ₹100-crore mark in revenue. The film features actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, who are seen in a scene holding helmets. The message included in the clip is clear: “Alone or with your Saiyaara (partner), you must wear helmets.”

The Ahmedabad Traffic Police’s campaign comes in response to a strong rebuke from the Gujarat High Court regarding traffic violations in the city. In a recent crackdown, the police issued an astonishing 9,377 challans for wrong-side driving in just six days, from July 17 to 22, 2025. This resulted in fines exceeding ₹1.59 crore. The statistics show the ongoing struggle against traffic indiscipline in Ahmedabad and the authorities’ commitment to improving road safety.

The highest number of violations occurred in the SG Highway Zone-2 area, which reported 1,564 cases, resulting in fines of ₹27.76 lakh. This was followed by the B Division traffic police station, with 1,440 challans worth ₹23.47 lakh, and Zone M, which had 1,067 cases amounting to ₹18.04 lakh in penalties.

In addition to the police’s efforts, Clear Premium Water, a bottled water company, has also contributed to road safety awareness. They launched a campaign to distribute 1,000 helmets to the public in collaboration with the Ahmedabad city police. This initiative aims to reduce the risk of injury among riders and promote responsible behaviour on the roads.

Nayan Shah, Founder & CEO of Clear Premium Water, stated, “This initiative represents a significant stride in raising awareness about road safety, emphasizing the importance of protecting not just ourselves but others on the road.” The campaign emphasises the need for safety, especially for two-wheeler riders, who are often at higher risk of fatal accidents.

The police have also expressed their commitment to fostering a culture of safety. GS Malik, Commissioner of Police, Ahmedabad City, remarked, “We are proud to have introduced an innovative idea through our helmet distribution drive. Many fatal accidents can be prevented by simply wearing a helmet.” This initiative is not only about distributing helmets but also about safeguarding lives and creating a responsible community.

The collaboration between Clear Premium Water and the Ahmedabad police sets a strong example of how public and private sectors can work together for a common cause. This partnership aims to build a safer road environment and encourages citizens to take heed of road safety measures. As the campaign continues, the hope is that more individuals will recognise the importance of wearing helmets and adhering to traffic rules, ultimately leading to safer roads for all.
