In Banaskantha district, the Nari Vandana Utsav is being celebrated with various themes. This week-long celebration aims to empower women and raise awareness about their rights. Under the guidance of District Collector Mihir Patel, a seminar was held today at the District Panchayat Hall in Palanpur. The theme for today was ‘Karmayogi Day’. It focused on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
Many female employees from different government offices attended the seminar. They gained valuable insights into their legal rights and received guidance on how to address workplace harassment. The main goal of this event is to bring women into the mainstream, ensure their safety, and promote women’s empowerment. It also aims to raise awareness about laws and programs aimed at eliminating gender inequality.
The seminar featured several officials, including P.P. Thakor from the District Legal Services Authority, the District Women and Child Officer, field officers, and staff from the DHEW team and PBSC.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to create a secure environment for women in the workplace. The Nari Vandana Utsav is not just a celebration but a crucial step towards societal change. It emphasizes the importance of women feeling safe and supported in their work environments.
In addition to the seminar, the Ministry of Women and Child Development has launched a new online platform called She-Box. This platform allows women to report incidents of sexual harassment at work. The launch event took place on August 29, 2024, in New Delhi. The platform serves as a central repository for information related to Internal Committees (IC) and Local Committees (LC) across the country. It facilitates the filing of complaints, tracking their status, and ensures timely action by the IC.
The She-Box portal is designed to provide a secure and efficient process for addressing complaints of sexual harassment. It aims to create a more supportive workplace for women, aligning with the government’s commitment to developing a safer environment. Women’s leadership and participation in the workforce are crucial for inclusive economic growth, and this initiative is a significant step towards achieving that goal.
Minister Smriti Annpurna Devi highlighted the importance of the She-Box portal during the launch event. She stated that this initiative would provide a more efficient and secure platform for resolving complaints. The portal aims to ensure that complaints can be filed securely without public disclosure of personal information.
The She-Box portal and the new website of the Ministry can be accessed at https://shebox.wcd.gov.in/ and https://wcd.gov.in/. These platforms aim to enhance government engagement with beneficiaries at both national and global levels. Having a strong online presence is essential for effective communication with citizens.
The Nari Vandana Utsav and the She-Box initiative highlight the ongoing efforts to empower women in Gujarat. By raising awareness and providing tools for safety and support, these programs are paving the way for a future where women can thrive in their workplaces. The seminar in Banaskantha is just one example of how the government is working to ensure that women’s rights are recognized and protected, contributing to a more egalitarian society.
As these initiatives continue to evolve, it is crucial for women to engage with these resources and advocate for their rights. Empowering women is not only beneficial for individuals but also for society as a whole. The Nari Vandana Utsav is a celebration of this empowerment and a call for ongoing action towards gender equality in all sectors of life.
