In a remarkable initiative, the Faculty of Business Administration (FOBA) at GLS University in Ahmedabad has launched an immersive educational journey. This initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) and focuses on holistic development, Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), and real-world preparedness. It highlights the idea that ‘experience is the greatest teacher’ and aims to enhance learning beyond traditional classroom settings.
During the programme, students engaged in a variety of interactive activities designed to foster teamwork and personal growth. Activities included ‘Travel Buzz’, ‘Two Truths and a Lie’, and ‘Human Knot’. These exercises were not only fun but also encouraged students to think critically and work collaboratively.
As part of the orientation, thoughtfully curated trips were organized to significant sites such as the Adalaj Stepwell, Heritage Walks, Riverfront, and Oxygen Park. Visits to Science City and Indroda Park were also included, aiming to broaden students’ horizons and provide experiential learning opportunities.
The initiative also introduced students to ‘ClubWorx’. This platform showcases the vibrant student-led clubs at FOBA, which promote creativity, initiative, and hands-on learning experiences. One of the key highlights of the orientation was the ‘Samvad’ series, a communication-focused event designed to enhance interactions among students and faculty.
The session featured inspiring speakers including Shyam Parekh, a media educator; Vishwaroop Pathi, a leadership consultant; RJ Megha, a popular radio personality; and Vatsal Shah, an entrepreneur and youth mentor. Their stories and insights motivated students to pursue their dreams and embrace challenges.
The programme culminated in an engaging alumni talk and workshop titled ‘Legends Lounge’. FOBA graduates shared their fascinating experiences and the importance of curiosity, adaptability, and lifelong learning. This session underlined the value of learning beyond the classroom and encouraged students to explore their passions.
Overall, the immersive initiative at FOBA represents a significant step towards modernising education in Gujarat. By emphasizing learning through experience, the university is preparing students not just academically, but also personally and professionally for the challenges of the future. The collaborative and interactive approach taken by GLS University can serve as a model for other educational institutions aiming to enhance the learning experience for their students. It is a clear indication that education can extend beyond textbooks and lectures, fostering a generation of well-rounded individuals ready to take on the world.
