Bhalasara Village Takes Bold Step to Combat Addiction

In Bhalasara village, located in the Tharad taluka of Gujarat, residents have taken a significant step towards addressing addiction. The villagers recently gathered for an important meeting where they made strict decisions against the sale and consumption of alcohol and other intoxicating substances. Anyone found drinking or selling alcohol will face a hefty fine of ₹51,000. Furthermore, they will be handed over to the police immediately.

The village also determined that anyone entering the village while intoxicated would be fined and reported to the police. If someone tries to help a person caught drinking, they will also be penalised with a fine of ₹11,000.

To ensure these rules are enforced, a special committee has been formed. This committee will identify and take action against those selling or consuming alcohol. Additionally, the villagers agreed that anyone violating these rules would be socially ostracised and would not be allowed to participate in community events.

These strict measures are seen as part of the villagers’ strong commitment to eliminating addiction. Bhalasara’s decision has been met with approval from many who believe this could lead to a healthier community. They hope that by implementing these fines and social consequences, they can deter individuals from engaging in harmful behaviours.
