Bhogavo River Bridge Closed for Repairs to Ensure Safety

In Ahmedabad, an important bridge over the Bhogavo River is closed for repairs. This decision was made by the local district administration and the National Highway Authority due to the bridge’s poor condition. The bridge, built around 1975, is located on the Ahmedabad-Bavla-Bagodara National Highway. Heavy vehicles are prohibited from using the bridge to ensure safety.

The situation is serious as heavy rains are expected, which could worsen the bridge’s condition. The Ahmedabad-Rajkot National Highway No. 47 is affected, and traffic will be diverted until the necessary repairs are completed. The local authorities are taking these steps to protect the public and prevent accidents.

Currently, work is ongoing on a new bridge approach on the Bhogavo River. This work is expected to be completed by July 20, 2025. However, traffic will only be allowed in one lane during this period, which may cause delays. To avoid any accidents during the rainy season, the authorities have announced a traffic ban on the Bhogavo Bridge from July 13 to July 31, 2025.

The district magistrate, B. R. Sagar, has issued a notice under the Gujarat Police Act. This notice includes specific instructions for traffic management during the bridge closure.

The restricted area includes the Bhogavo Bridge on the Ahmedabad-Bavla-Bagodara National Highway between chainage 115+250 and 117+300. The alternative route for vehicles travelling from Rajkot to Ahmedabad is the new Bhogavo Bridge.

Drivers are advised to follow these instructions:
1. Overtaking on the diversion route is strictly prohibited.
2. Heavy vehicles should use the left side of the road, while light vehicles should stay on the right.
3. No vehicle should be parked on the road in the restricted area during the enforcement period.

Violating these rules can lead to penalties under the Gujarat Police Act and the Indian Penal Code. The police have been authorized to take action against violators to ensure public safety.

Authorities are working hard to manage traffic and provide alternative routes to minimize inconvenience for citizens. They urge everyone to cooperate during this critical time and to prioritize safety on the roads.

As the repair work progresses, updates will be provided to keep the public informed about the situation. Citizens are encouraged to stay updated and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid delays.
