Brave Action Saves Children After Mother Falls from Train

In a remarkable incident in Gujarat, a prompt response from local police has ensured the safety of two children whose mother fell from a moving train. The event took place on a Friday afternoon at 3:15 PM when a woman named Tarunaben Jain was travelling with her children on train number 12471, between Kudusad and Kosamba. As the train was in motion, she tragically fell from the S4 coach.

The alarming situation was brought to the attention of the Gujarat Police via a post on social media by a vigilant passenger. This post quickly gained traction, and within just four minutes, police teams were mobilised to respond to the emergency. The Gujarat Police initiative, known as GP-SMASH (Gujarat Police – Social Media Monitoring, Awareness and Systematic Handling), showcased its effectiveness in ensuring public safety.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and the guidance of State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi, the police acted swiftly. The dedicated GP-SMASH team monitored social media in real-time and responded promptly to the post. They tagged the Vadodara police group to initiate immediate action.

Western Railway authorities quickly formed two teams. One team was responsible for securing the two children, ensuring they were safe and looked after. Meanwhile, the second team began searching for the fallen mother. By 3:41 PM, the Vadodara police confirmed via social media that both children were safe and that their mother was being searched for.

The police teams conducted thorough investigations along the railway tracks and nearby areas, including hospitals, to locate the mother. This incident highlights the efficiency of the GP-SMASH initiative, which has been operational since March 1, 2023. The project aims to address citizen complaints and concerns swiftly, providing a sense of security to the public that help is just a click away.

The Gujarat Police have urged citizens to use this initiative wisely during any legal or police-related issues. This incident is a testament to the proactive measures taken by the police to ensure public safety and build trust within the community. It also reinforces the importance of citizen engagement in reporting emergencies, which can lead to rapid responses and potentially save lives.

The GP-SMASH program is not just a digital monitoring tool; it represents a significant step towards a responsible and citizen-centric policing system. Through this initiative, the Gujarat Police demonstrate their unwavering commitment to the safety and service of the state’s residents. This timely response not only safeguarded the children but also reassured the citizens of Gujarat that help is always available when needed.
