Congress Protest in Jambusar Leads to Road Repair Resumption

In Jambusar, the local municipal authority has started repairing a badly damaged road, just before a planned protest by the Congress party. The road, which runs from the depots to the Tankari area, had been in a poor state for a long time, causing serious problems for drivers. With the arrival of the monsoon, work on this road had stopped. The Congress party was set to hold a program to demand the resumption of repairs, highlighting the struggles faced by local residents.

The major road in Jambusar is crucial for the daily commute of the people. It had become so dilapidated that drivers faced daily challenges, including accidents due to potholes. The Jambusar municipality had previously announced plans to construct an RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) road, but the work halted due to monsoon rains.

Amidst the rains, videos surfaced showing ongoing work on the road, which raised concerns among local Congress leaders. They decided to hold a program to push for the repair of the road, emphasizing the urgent need for action. Notable attendees at the Congress event included Bharuch district president Rajendra Singh Rana, former MLA Sanjay Solanki, and other party leaders.

However, before the Congress program could take place, the municipality resumed the road works after conducting quality control checks. This unexpected action overshadowed the Congress protest, which was aimed at drawing attention to the dire condition of the road.

Rajendra Singh Rana voiced his frustrations, accusing the ruling BJP of corruption and neglect. He pointed out that the state of the roads in Jambusar and the surrounding district was alarming. The municipality had approved the RCC road project, and work orders were issued back in January, yet officials seemed to neglect the project, allowing the rainy season to hinder progress.

With the holy month of Shravan approaching, which attracts thousands of pilgrims, the need for a functional road is more pressing than ever. Rana emphasized the importance of investigating the contractor’s performance and questioned why they were not blacklisted if they continued to work amidst the rains. The Congress leaders decided to delay their protest for now, given that the road work has finally started again.

The situation in Jambusar reflects a larger issue within local governance in Gujarat. With the Congress acting as the primary opposition party against the BJP, such instances of public dissatisfaction can have significant implications for future elections. As local leaders continue to push for better infrastructure and accountability, residents will be watching closely to see if their needs are met in the coming months.
