In a vibrant and joyful event, Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, hosted a grand cultural celebration on the foundation days of West Bengal and Telangana. The event took place under the presence of Governor Acharya Devvrat on 10th July. Many residents from these states, serving officers from the Indian Army, administrative officials, students, artists, and senior citizens participated in large numbers.
The celebration was organised with the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat’, which means ‘One India, Great India’. Governor Acharya Devvrat reminded everyone of the core principle of Indian culture, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, which translates to ‘the world is one family’. He expressed that if the world lives in unity and love, it would become a beautiful place.
During his speech, the Governor shared that the ideas of separation based on religion, caste, and colour should be meaningless. He stated that everyone present shared the same blood and when someone is ill, we donate blood without asking about their religion or caste. This unity is vital to our society, but some extremists try to create division. Despite these challenges, Indian culture teaches us unity in diversity.
He referenced the Vedas, stating that they encourage people to connect with each other’s hearts. Just as the spokes of a chariot support each other, people must support one another for the overall growth and progress of society. A society united like the spokes of a wheel can achieve great progress, while those divided will struggle.
The Governor highlighted India’s cultural diversity as its greatest strength. He noted that despite the many languages, cuisines, and traditions, India remains one. He mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have promoted the celebration of foundation days across all state Raj Bhavans to strengthen the idea of ‘One India, Great India’.
This event also served as a reminder of the rich literary and cultural heritage of West Bengal, which has produced great thinkers, writers, and freedom fighters, including the legendary Subhas Chandra Bose. Moreover, the historic struggle of Telangana for statehood and its current recognition in the IT sector was also acknowledged.
The Governor congratulated the citizens of West Bengal and Telangana on their foundation days and praised the artists who showcased their talents during the event. He honoured all participants for their contributions.
Several dignitaries attended the celebration, including Lady Governor Shrimati Darshanadevi, Director General of Police Recruitment Board Dr. Nirja Gotru, and senior officers from the Indian Army and Security Forces. This event was a significant occasion for fostering unity and culture among people from different states residing in Gujarat.
