Delhi Public School (DPS) Bopal students from Classes IV to VII had a fantastic time at the AHA! International Theatre Festival for Children. This event took place at the Kanoria Art Centre in Ahmedabad. The sixth edition of the festival was a special occasion, celebrating theatre for young audiences.
One of the highlights was a clown performance called “Job Less Job: A Whimsical & Interactive Clowning Spectacle.” This show was presented by Red Thread Entertainment and featured talented artists Sagar and Shreeram from Mumbai. The performance was lively and engaging.
Directed by Ranga Shankara, a well-known theatre group from Bengaluru, the play used very little English. Instead, it relied on mime, gestures, and visual storytelling. This approach made it easy for children to understand and enjoy the story. It was both funny and touching, drawing the audience into the world of the clowns.
The story followed two clowns, Tinu and Kamala, who believed that “having no job is the job.” Their story began when a strange job letter fell into a trash can. This unexpected event led them on a series of funny and magical adventures. As they searched through unusual objects, they created hilarious scenes that kept the students laughing.
Throughout the performance, the clowns used props like sticky balloons and boxing gloves, bringing surprises and chaos to the stage. The chemistry between the actors was evident, and their comic timing was perfect. The students not only laughed but also reflected on deeper themes like friendship and the joy of exploring new things.
The experience was unforgettable for the students. They left the theatre feeling inspired and with a new appreciation for the arts. Events like this help foster creativity and empathy among young people, enriching their educational experiences beyond the classroom.
The AHA! festival is an important event for children, as it introduces them to the world of theatre. It helps them discover their interests and encourages them to express themselves creatively. The joy and excitement of live performances can spark a love for the arts that lasts a lifetime.
DPS Bopal continues to support such initiatives, making sure its students have opportunities to explore different forms of art. The school believes in nurturing well-rounded individuals who are not just academically strong but also passionate about creative fields.
In conclusion, the AHA! International Theatre Festival was a significant event for the students of DPS Bopal. From laughter to lessons about life, the performance had a lasting impact on their young minds. It was a wonderful reminder of the magic of theatre and its ability to connect with audiences of all ages.
