The tanker that had been hanging precariously from Gambhira Bridge has finally been removed. This operation took nearly 28 days and involved innovative marine balloon technology. The tanker was lifted using air-filled marine balloons placed underneath it. This method allowed the tanker to be safely extracted without causing any further damage.

The owner of the tanker, along with local authorities, breathed a sigh of relief following its removal. The owner had made several appeals to the state government, even reaching out to the Chief Minister. Despite numerous requests, the local authorities in Vadodara and Anand districts were passing the responsibility back and forth. Eventually, the Chief Minister assigned the responsibility of the operation to the Anand administration.

The rescue operation was carried out by a private company from Porbandar, known as the Marine Emergency Response Centre, led by Ketanbhai Gajjar. Remarkably, this company undertook the task without charging any fees.

After 23 days of the tanker being stuck, the team visited the site to assess how to safely lift the tanker without causing any damage. The operation required careful planning and execution. Heavy machinery was deemed too risky, so the decision was made to use the marine balloon technology.

The team from Porbandar included 20 experts who were tasked with evaluating the situation. Their approach involved using air-filled balloons to lift the tanker. This innovative solution resolved one of Gujarat’s major logistical challenges.

The tanker had been hanging from a broken span of the bridge since July 9, when the bridge collapsed. This incident had already resulted in the tragic loss of lives, with the death toll reaching 22. The tanker’s removal was crucial to restoring normalcy in the area.

Using the marine air balloon technology, the tanker was moved parallel to the bridge. This was the first time such technology was employed in India for this kind of operation. Engineers from Singapore assisted in the process, showcasing international collaboration.

The operation involved placing a capsule balloon close to the tanker and filling it with air using a compressor. Safety measures were taken to ensure that no human life was endangered during the operation. All necessary safety equipment and technical gear were also prepared beforehand.

The tanker was finally lifted and pulled to a safe location behind the bridge. The entire operation was monitored from a control room 900 meters away using four drones, ensuring all steps were followed while maintaining safety.

In conclusion, the successful removal of the tanker has been a significant achievement for local authorities and the marine response team. It not only highlights the importance of innovative technologies in crisis management but also serves as a reminder of the tragic events that led to this operation. The community can now look forward to rebuilding and moving on from this incident.
