Golden Opportunity for Women to Join Anganwadi in Gujarat

The Gujarat government is committed to reducing malnutrition, improving child health, and providing employment for women at the local level. Over 9,000 positions are available for women interested in becoming Anganwadi workers and helpers. Women aged between 18 and 33 can apply online through the e-HRMS portal until August 30.

This initiative aims to empower women economically while addressing serious health issues in communities. By increasing the workforce in Anganwadi centres, the government hopes to reduce malnutrition rates and control child mortality.

Guided by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and led by Minister for Women and Child Development Bhanu Ben Babariya, the government is working tirelessly to make women self-reliant. This scheme will provide employment opportunities right at their doorsteps.

The Anganwadi workers will play a vital role in enhancing health and nutrition levels in their local areas. The highest number of job openings is in Kutch district, with 619 positions, followed by 568 in Ahmedabad, 547 in Banaskantha, 394 in Anand, and 393 in Mehsana.

Women can apply through the e-HRMS website, and forms can also be filled out via local VCEs (Village Community Educators). Selection will be based on merit, and women with over ten years of experience in Anganwadi services will be given preference for the worker positions.

The minimum educational qualification for Anganwadi workers is completion of Class 12 or a minimum two-year course recognised by AICTE. For helpers, the minimum requirement is completion of Class 10. Only women within the specified age range can apply.

Selected women will work under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) to improve the health and nutrition of children under six, pregnant women, new mothers, and adolescent girls. They will provide nutritional support, care for mothers and children, informal pre-primary education, and health services.

Anganwadi workers will primarily operate in their local areas, focusing on monitoring the growth of children from birth to three years, conducting regular health checks, and distributing take-home rations. They will also be responsible for providing warm meals, early childhood education, and nutritious food to mothers and children.

In addition, they will oversee hygiene in the Anganwadi centres, prepare nutritious snacks, and ensure the safe transportation of children. The role of these women is crucial for raising health and nutrition standards at the local level.

This initiative not only empowers women but also contributes to the well-being of entire communities by improving health and educational outcomes for children. It represents a significant step towards a healthier, more self-sufficient society in Gujarat.
