Governor Praises Gurukuls for Preserving Indian Culture

In a recent online event, the Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, addressed a gathering organised by the Swaminarayan Gurukul in Rajkot. This event, known as the Ekadashi Night Mahajagran, aimed to raise awareness about spirituality and cultural values among the audience. More than 275 saints from 65 branches of the Gurukul and over 8000 families joined the event through YouTube and Zoom.

Governor Devvrat praised the longstanding tradition of the Ekadashi Night Mahajagran, which has been celebrated for over seven decades. He expressed that this program is not just a spiritual awakening but also helps in promoting cultural values in society. He noted the significant role of Gurukuls in spreading Indian life values and spirituality, both in India and abroad, which he considers a commendable effort to preserve India’s ancient Vedic traditions.

The Governor highlighted the importance of spirituality as the world increasingly focuses on modernity and materialism. He stated that the saints of the Swaminarayan sect are doing inspiring work by transmitting India’s spiritual heritage to the younger generation. This work helps create responsible citizens free from addiction, thus strengthening society and the nation.

Devvrat stressed that education’s true purpose is not merely to provide employment but to foster personal development and build a value-based society. He commended the Swaminarayan Gurukul for linking education with values and working towards this goal.

The Governor also acknowledged various social initiatives undertaken by Gurukuls, such as environmental protection, cow conservation, and disaster relief. He remarked that the effort to connect religious institutions with social responsibilities is commendable.

He mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to preserving India’s heritage while striving for a ‘developed India’. The saints of the Gurukuls are conducting a significant campaign to preserve India’s cultural legacy. He believes that if both the government and religious institutions continue their efforts in parallel, the nation will soar to new heights.

In his address, the Governor paid respect to several prominent saints from the Gurukul and acknowledged their role as treasures for any nation, serving as sources of inspiration for future generations.

Among the attendees were Shri Dhirubhai Babariya from Dallas, USA, Shri Manubhai Patadia from California, USA, and Rakesh Dudhati, a Gurukul graduate and social worker. The Governor expressed gratitude for their participation and contributions.

In conclusion, Governor Acharya Devvrat described the Ekadashi Night Mahajagran as a spiritual yagna that ignites awareness, thought, and values in the public. He expressed hope that the Gurukul’s journey of knowledge will expand into infinite directions.
