Gujarat Drivers Warned About Cyber Fraud

In Gujarat, drivers are being warned about the dangers of cyber fraud, particularly concerning the payment of vehicle e-challans. The Road Transport Office (RTO) has advised all vehicle owners to pay their fines online only through the official ‘e-challan’ portal. This portal can be accessed at https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in/index/accused-challan.

The RTO has made it clear that they do not send links for payments via WhatsApp or any other social media platforms. If a driver receives a link through an unofficial source, they should not click on it. This warning aims to protect drivers from falling victim to cyber fraud, which has become increasingly common.

The vehicle transport department stated that taking precautions can help prevent becoming a victim of fraud. They emphasize that only payments made through the official portal are considered valid.

In addition to these warnings, the traffic police in the city are conducting a special drive against habitual traffic offenders. They have created a blacklist of drivers who frequently violate traffic rules. Over 100 drivers are currently under surveillance for repeated offences. The traffic police are working closely with the RTO to address these issues.

Drivers on this list are being closely monitored. Many of them have multiple e-challans pending, yet they fail to pay their fines. This is concerning to the authorities, as the number of vehicles on the roads continues to increase, putting more strain on traffic management.

To ensure safety and proper traffic flow, the police have established new regulations. Repeat offenders can face immediate fines and other penalties. The traffic department and the RTO are taking action to enforce these rules effectively.

Furthermore, from now on, traffic police and RTO officers will work together to penalize at least 100 identified drivers. If these drivers do not settle their outstanding e-challans on the spot, their vehicles may be detained until the fines are paid. In cases where drivers lack the proper documentation, their driving licenses may be suspended.

Traffic police have found that some drivers have received as many as 72 e-challans due to their repeated violations. This level of negligence is unacceptable, and measures are in place to ensure compliance with traffic laws.

The authorities are determined to address the growing problem of traffic violations and cyber fraud. They believe that by raising awareness and enforcing strict penalties, they can create safer roads for everyone in Gujarat. The public is urged to heed these warnings and to always use the official channels for any vehicle-related payments to avoid scams.
