The Gujarat government has made a significant decision to benefit employees of grant-in-aid institutions. This announcement was made by spokesperson Minister Rushikesh Patel in Gandhinagar. The new policy will provide 20 medical leaves and 15 special leaves to educational and non-educational staff. This applies to 357 grant-in-aid institutions across the state. In total, 1,282 employees will benefit from this new leave policy. Of these, 1,167 are educational staff, while 115 are non-educational staff. Minister Patel stated that this policy aligns grant-in-aid employees’ leave entitlements with those of government employees. They will be eligible for medical leave under specific circumstances. If an employee or their family member falls seriously ill or suffers an accident, they can take up to 10 days of full-paid medical leave or 20 days of half-paid medical leave, provided they submit a medical certificate. This leave can be carried over after the regular appointment period as well. Additionally, non-vacational non-educational staff will receive 15 special leaves, which cannot be carried over beyond the regular appointment period. This decision is expected to provide much-needed support to employees working in non-government aided colleges and institutions, improving their working conditions. The government hopes this initiative will enhance employee morale and productivity. This policy marks a positive step towards recognising the contributions of grant-in-aid employees in Gujarat’s education sector. The government is committed to ensuring that these employees receive the same benefits as their counterparts in government institutions. By providing medical and special leave, the government aims to create a supportive environment for employees during challenging times. Overall, this decision reflects the government’s dedication to the welfare of its staff and its willingness to adapt policies to meet their needs. The announcement has been welcomed by various stakeholders in the education sector, who see it as a long-overdue recognition of the work done by grant-in-aid employees. This initiative is likely to set a precedent for further improvements in employee benefits across the state. In conclusion, the Gujarat government’s new leave policy for grant-in-aid employees is a progressive move that addresses the needs of educational and non-educational staff. It not only provides essential leave entitlements but also aligns these employees with government standards. As the government continues to focus on improving the working conditions of its employees, this policy is a step in the right direction towards better support and recognition of their contributions in the education sector.
