Gujarat has launched a new agricultural initiative called the ‘Developed Agriculture Mission’ aimed at improving the income of farmers across the state. The programme was inaugurated today by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel at Anand Agricultural University. This initiative will run for 15 days, from May 29 to June 12, 2025. It is part of a nationwide effort, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to modernise agriculture in India.
Under this mission, 55 teams comprising agricultural scientists, progressive farmers, and agricultural officials will travel to 2,951 villages in Gujarat. They will communicate directly with over 3.5 lakh farmers during this period. The goal is to provide guidance and support for sustainable agricultural practices.
Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel explained that 30 agricultural science centres and four agricultural universities will participate in this initiative. These teams will visit villages, advising farmers on natural farming, modern farming techniques, and climate-resilient practices. They will also introduce new seeds, nano fertilisers, and the effective use of soil health cards.
Farmers will be informed about various government schemes aimed at supporting their livelihoods. This includes critical information on fertiliser use and agricultural best practices. The teams will ensure that farmers know how to maximise their crop yield while maintaining soil health.
The initiative covers all 33 districts of Gujarat and aims to reach a wide range of farmers, especially in rural areas. The teams will also focus on educating farmers about government support schemes designed to help them financially.
The programme is expected to significantly benefit farmers by providing them with the latest agricultural knowledge and resources. Each team will follow a specific route to ensure they reach as many farmers as possible during the 15-day mission.
The involvement of local experts and officials adds a personal touch to the initiative, allowing farmers to ask questions and receive tailored advice. This direct engagement is crucial for the success of the mission, as it encourages farmers to adopt new practices that can improve their productivity.
In summary, the ‘Developed Agriculture Mission’ in Gujarat is a significant step towards enhancing agricultural practices and increasing farmers’ incomes. By providing direct access to information and resources, the initiative aims to create a more sustainable agricultural landscape in the state. The government hopes that this mission will lead to a more informed and empowered farming community, ultimately benefiting the entire agriculture sector in Gujarat.
