In a significant effort to combat drug misuse, the Gujarat Police launched a mega checking campaign across the state on Wednesday afternoon. This operation, which started at noon, focuses on preventing the illegal sale and abuse of narcotic drugs. It follows directives from the state’s Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi and Police Chief Vikash Sahay.
The primary aim of this campaign is to halt the sale of drugs listed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act without a proper prescription. The police teams, which included local officers, the Local Crime Branch (LCB), Special Operations Group (SOG), and officials from the District Food and Drug Department, conducted inspections at various medical stores throughout the state. Special attention was given to pharmacies located near schools, colleges, and educational institutions.
During the investigations, the police focused on the illegal sale of specific drugs, including Amidopyrine, Phenacetin, Nialamide, Chloramphenicol, and Phenylephrine. These drugs are only permitted to be sold with a doctor’s prescription, which makes their unauthorized sale a serious offence. In Patan district alone, inspections were carried out at 61 medical stores by 4 PM on the same day, and strict actions are expected against those violating the law.
This operation reflects the Gujarat Police’s commitment to maintain public order and safety by ensuring compliance with legal frameworks. The police are dedicated to tackling drug-related crimes, which are a growing concern in society. The initiative aims to protect the youth and vulnerable populations from the dangers associated with drug abuse.
The state has seen a rise in drug-related issues in recent years. Authorities believe that by cracking down on illegal sales, they can significantly reduce the misuse of these substances. The campaign is part of a broader strategy to enhance law enforcement and ensure that all citizens are safe from the harms of drug abuse.
Gujarat’s police force has a strong reputation for tackling crime effectively. They have previously demonstrated their capability by solving complex cases and maintaining law and order in the state. This latest operation is a reflection of their proactive approach in addressing public health and safety concerns.
The community’s response to these actions has been largely positive, as many residents feel safer with the police taking a stand against illicit drug sales. Local leaders and citizens alike have expressed their support for the police’s efforts, urging them to continue these initiatives to ensure that such substances do not pose a threat to society.
As the campaign continues, the Gujarat Police will monitor the situation closely and adapt their strategies as necessary. They are committed to working with the community to raise awareness about the dangers of drug misuse and the importance of following legal processes when it comes to medication. This operation exemplifies the ongoing battle against drug-related crimes and the police’s determination to protect public health in Gujarat.
