Gujarat’s Logistics Master Plan Nears Completion for 8 Cities

Gujarat is working on a Logistics Master Plan for eight major cities. This plan is important for improving transportation needs for industries in the state. Under the leadership of Industry Minister Balvant Singh Rajput, a review meeting was held in Gandhinagar. The meeting focused on the logistics and infrastructure planning by the Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB). The Master Plan aims to identify and address the transportation needs of various industries. This will help enhance efficiency in goods movement across the state.

The cities included in this plan are Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, and Junagadh. The Minister emphasized the need to complete the City Logistics Master Plan quickly. The aim is to create a Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP) database, which will facilitate better logistics management.

Minister Rajput pointed out that important infrastructure projects, valued at over ₹500 crores, are monitored by the central government’s project monitoring group. GIDB plays a crucial role in resolving issues related to these projects. The focus is on reducing logistics costs and developing infrastructure facilities to boost economic growth.

The Master Plan will not only improve logistics but also support the vision of a ‘Developed Gujarat’ under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The state government is committed to fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of a ‘Developed India’ by 2047. They believe that efficient logistics will play a significant role in achieving this goal.

During the meeting, Rajput instructed GIDB officials to ensure that they stay ahead in the Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) survey. This survey assesses logistics performance in the country. By improving logistics, Gujarat aims to enhance its position in the national and international markets.

The logistics sector is vital for the state’s economy. Gujarat is already one of India’s most industrialized states, and effective logistics can further enhance its economic performance. The state’s long coastline of about 1,600 km provides significant advantages for maritime trade and transport.

The focus on logistics is timely, as the demand for efficient supply chains has increased after the pandemic. Businesses are looking for ways to optimize their operations, and the Logistics Master Plan is expected to address many of these challenges. By facilitating better transportation options, Gujarat can attract more investments and create job opportunities.

In conclusion, the Logistics Master Plan for Gujarat’s eight cities is a step towards ensuring better infrastructure and logistics management in the state. With the completion of this plan, industries can expect improved transportation facilities, leading to enhanced productivity and economic growth. The government is committed to making Gujarat a leader in logistics and infrastructure development in India.
