Kalol, a town in Gujarat, recently celebrated the inauguration of a new Railway Protection Force (RPF) barrack. This event took place on July 21, 2025, and was led by Mr Manoj Yadav, the Director General of the Railway Protection Force, who is an IPS officer from New Delhi. After the inauguration, Mr Yadav inspected the barrack, expressing satisfaction with the facilities and infrastructure available there.
According to information provided by the railway spokesperson, the new barrack has the capacity to accommodate 30 personnel, both male and female RPF employees. It features modern and useful amenities, including comfortable living quarters, clean restrooms, arrangements for drinking water, a dining area, a relaxation room, and meeting rooms. Additionally, to support the physical and mental health of the officers, the barrack includes a gym, a recreation hall, and a volleyball court. This new infrastructure is expected to enhance the efficiency and morale of the RPF personnel, while also improving their working conditions significantly.
On this occasion, a tree plantation program was also organized as part of an environmental conservation initiative. Furthermore, to ensure better monitoring of the station complex and railway tracks, eight patrolling motorcycles were flagged off. This initiative aims to enhance security management, strengthen crime control, and provide a safer environment for travelers.
The event was attended by several senior officials, including Mr Ajay Sadani, the Chief Security Commissioner of the Western Railway, Mr Lokesh Kumar, the Divisional Railway Manager of Ahmedabad, and Ms Bhavpreeta Soni, the Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of Ahmedabad, along with other RPF personnel.
The inauguration of the barrack is a significant step towards improving the safety and security of railway operations in the region. The RPF plays a crucial role in maintaining order and protecting passengers on trains and at railway stations. With the addition of this new facility, the force is expected to operate more effectively, ensuring that the safety of travelers is prioritized.
In related news, Prime Minister Modi recently conducted a virtual foundation stone laying ceremony for the gauge conversion of the Kalol-Kadi-Katosan railway line. This project, which costs approximately 346 crores, is expected to provide significant relief to travelers. It will allow direct connectivity between Kadi and Bachraji to Ahmedabad. For years, railway work between Kalol and Bachraji had been stalled, but the recent allocation of funds by the ministry is expected to expedite the process.
Bachraji, located in Mehsana district, falls under the Special Investment Region (SIR) designation, which has increased employment opportunities in the area. With several industrial units like Maruti and Honda establishing operations in Bachraji, the region’s development is progressing rapidly. For the advancement of this development, the gauge conversion of the Kalol-Kadi-Katosan road is essential. The Railways has approved 346 crores for the broad gauge project, which will benefit many travelers.
As the railway infrastructure continues to improve, residents and travelers in the region can look forward to better connectivity and enhanced safety measures. The efforts of the Railway Protection Force and the government’s commitment to infrastructure development are set to transform the travel experience in this part of Gujarat.
