In Disa, a town in Gujarat, a special investigation team (SIT) has begun probing a garbage scam that has raised many questions among the public. This investigation is crucial as it aims to uncover the truth behind allegations of corruption in the municipality’s waste management practices.

The Disa Municipality had awarded a contract for door-to-door garbage collection and street cleaning to a company named Darbar Waste Corporation. However, there have been serious allegations against the company. Reports suggest that the company did not follow the tender conditions and submitted false invoices, resulting in a scam worth millions of rupees. Members of the ruling BJP party in the municipality have also accused municipal officials and employees of colluding with the agency.

The situation escalated to the point where the district collector formed a four-member SIT to investigate the matter thoroughly. The team is headed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ambaji Area Development Authority. Other members include the Deputy Collector of Disa, the Chief Officer of the Palanpur Municipality, and a coordinator from the Swachh Bharat Mission in the Banaskantha district. They have already started their inquiry.

The SIT will examine various aspects of the garbage scam, including the tender process, compliance issues, irregularities, and the roles of the involved officials. As part of their investigation, they have summoned the Chief Officer of the Disa Municipality, the sanitary inspector, and other employees from the sanitation and vehicle departments for questioning.

Additionally, the SIT will review records related to the cleaning tender, including the billing process and how the contracts were handled. A key focus will be on why the municipality did not take possession of the vehicles from the agency and who was responsible for this oversight. This is believed to be one of the significant aspects of the scam.

It is noteworthy that the Chief Officer of Disa had initiated actions to stop payments to the contractor after the allegations surfaced. Shortly after this, the officer was unexpectedly transferred to Halol, which has become another critical point of interest in the investigation.

The public has high hopes that this investigation will reveal all the aspects of the garbage scam in Disa Municipality. They expect strict actions against those found guilty. The local community eagerly awaits the outcome of the SIT’s efforts to bring transparency and accountability to the municipality’s operations.

In conclusion, the Disa garbage scam investigation highlights the need for vigilance and accountability in local governance. The residents of Disa are keen to see justice served, as this issue affects their daily lives and the cleanliness of their town. The SIT’s findings will be crucial in ensuring that public resources are used properly and that the community receives the services it deserves.
