Kejriwal to Attend Farmers’ Meeting in Modasa on July 23

Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Chief Minister of Delhi, will visit Gujarat on July 23. He will attend a major farmers’ meeting, called the ‘Khedut Pashupalak Mahapanchayat’, in Modasa. This event comes amid rising tensions between the Sabarmati Dairy and local farmers. Kejriwal has expressed deep concern over the situation faced by farmers and livestock owners in Gujarat.

The announcement of Kejriwal’s visit coincides with Sabarmati Dairy’s recent decision to increase the price of milk fat to ₹995 per kilo. Farmers have been protesting against this increase for the past five days, which they see as unfair. During his visit, Kejriwal will meet with farmers who have suffered due to the dairy’s decisions and hear their grievances.

On July 24, Kejriwal will also meet with the family of Chaitar Vasava, an AAP member from Dediapada, who faces false charges. The farmers’ meeting on July 23 aims to address key issues affecting the rights and welfare of farmers and livestock owners in Gujarat.

AAP has put forward several demands during this period:
1. Immediate withdrawal of all cases against farmers.
2. A thorough investigation into the deaths of farmers linked to the Sabarmati Dairy dispute.
3. Action against those responsible for the deaths, including filing murder complaints.
4. Compensation of ₹1 crore each for the families of the deceased from the government and Sabarmati Dairy.

The AAP has made it clear that they will fight for the rights of Gujarat’s farmers and livestock owners until their last breath. Kejriwal’s visit and the farmers’ meeting are expected to escalate the ongoing Sabarmati Dairy dispute further.

In the recent meeting held to discuss the dairy’s new pricing, local leaders, including members from the BJP, were present. After the meeting, it was announced that farmers would receive ₹995 per kilo for milk fat. This decision has not been well received by the farmers, leading to ongoing protests.

Kejriwal’s involvement is seen as a significant political move, as AAP aims to gain support among the farming community in Gujarat. The party has positioned itself as a champion for farmers’ rights amid rising opposition to the dairy’s pricing strategies. With the farmers’ meeting approaching, the situation in Modasa is poised to attract significant attention from both supporters and critics of the dairy’s policies.

The AAP’s commitment to standing by the farmers will likely have a lasting impact on the political landscape in Gujarat, as they continue to fight for justice and fair treatment for agricultural workers in the region.
