Man Arrested with 361 Fake ₹500 Notes in Panchmahal

In a significant operation, the Panchmahal district’s Local Crime Branch and the Special Operations Group (SOG) arrested a man with 361 counterfeit ₹500 notes. This operation took place near the Bhathiji Maharaj Temple on the Tajpuri-Vandeli road in Morva Hadaf.

The police acted on a tip-off and apprehended Raghuvirsingh Abhesingh Ghod from Viraniya village. They seized fake notes worth ₹1.80 lakhs from him. Along with the counterfeit currency, police also confiscated a Pulsar motorcycle and a mobile phone.

Under the guidance of R.V. Asari from the Panchmahal Godhra range and District Police Chief Himanshu Solanki, the operation was executed efficiently. During the investigation, police found various suspicious documents including cheque books, passbooks, rubber stamps, and other materials.

A case has been registered against the accused under sections 178, 179, 180, and 61(2) of the Indian Penal Code – 2023 at the Morva police station. The police have initiated further investigations to identify other individuals involved in this counterfeit currency case.

This incident reflects a growing concern about fake currency circulating in Gujarat. Recently, police in Surat also arrested two people with counterfeit ₹500 notes. During a routine patrol near Laldarwaja, they discovered suspicious individuals in a Mahindra Jeep. Upon searching the vehicle, they found parcels of fake currency notes bundled inside plastic packaging.

The counterfeit notes were sent for testing to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Gandhinagar. Preliminary examinations revealed that the notes were indeed fake. In total, three bundles containing 112 counterfeit notes were confiscated. The arrested individuals were found to have received these fake notes from a person named Thakorbhai Maganbhai Parmar.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working to track down others involved in the counterfeit currency network. The police emphasize the importance of public vigilance in reporting suspicious activities to help combat this issue.

Both the Panchmahal and Surat incidents highlight the ongoing battle against counterfeit currency in Gujarat. Law enforcement agencies are urging citizens to be cautious and report any suspicious currency they may encounter. The police are committed to dismantling these counterfeit networks and preventing the spread of fake currency in the state.

As investigations proceed, updates will be provided to the public to ensure transparency and awareness regarding this critical issue. By working together, the police and the community can help protect the integrity of the currency system and reduce the prevalence of counterfeit notes in circulation.
