In Vadodara, police recently seized a large amount of liquor worth approximately Rs 2.5 crore. The liquor was being transported in a tanker filled with LPG gas. The local crime branch was on patrol when they received a tip-off about the tanker carrying foreign liquor from Haryana to Ahmedabad.

Acting on the information, the police set up a watch at the Karjan police station area. When the tanker arrived, officers stopped it and found the driver, identified as Faglu Ram Umaram Jat from Badmer, Rajasthan. The tanker was labelled as containing flammable material, prompting the police to exercise caution in handling the situation.

To safely inspect the tanker, the fire brigade was called in. They cut open the back of the tanker using a gas cutter. Inside, police discovered 20,340 bottles of English liquor, packed in 1,131 cartons. In total, the police seized liquor worth Rs 1.77 crore, alongside other items, bringing the total value of the confiscated goods to Rs 1.88 crore.

During interrogation, the driver revealed that he was in contact with two individuals, Anil Jagdishprasad and Munim Manish Bhai, who were responsible for sending foreign liquor to Gujarat. The police have registered a case against the driver.

This incident highlights the ongoing issues surrounding illegal liquor transport in Gujarat. Authorities are increasingly cracking down on such activities to curb the illegal liquor trade in the region. Despite the seizure, it remains unclear how the liquor was transported to various locations within Gujarat, and investigations are ongoing.

The police’s swift action has been praised, as it prevented a significant amount of illegal alcohol from reaching the market. Local residents are relieved that law enforcement is actively working to combat illegal activities in their area.

This operation is part of a broader effort by the Gujarat police to tackle smuggling and illegal trade. The state has seen a rise in police activities aimed at ensuring public safety and enforcing laws against illegal alcohol production and distribution.

The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities to assist the police in their efforts. Community cooperation is essential in the fight against illegal trade and maintaining the safety and wellbeing of residents in Gujarat.
