Narmada River Levels Rise Near Golden Bridge in Ankleshwar

In Ankleshwar, the water level of the Narmada River has reached 21 feet near the Golden Bridge. Over the past two days, more than 700,000 cubic feet of water has been released from the Sardar Sarovar Dam into the river. After 54 hours, five gates of the dam have been closed. The dam’s maximum level is 133.50 meters, while the Golden Bridge touched a height of 20.92 feet. The river has begun to slow down after flowing three feet below the danger level.

On Sunday afternoon, the water level at the Narmada Dam was recorded at 132.18 meters, and the river level at the Golden Bridge was at 20.86 feet. The inflow from upstream was only 73,803 cubic feet, while the outflow into the river was 145,000 cubic feet. Currently, ten gates are open at a height of 1.75 meters. The maximum level of the Narmada Dam is still 133.50 meters, and the water level at the Golden Bridge is at 20.92 feet.

Due to heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, the first five gates of the dam were opened, followed by ten, and later fifteen gates. The maximum inflow from upstream reached 435,000 cubic feet. On August 1, at 8 AM, a total of fifteen gates were opened, releasing a maximum of 395,000 cubic feet of water into the river, causing it to flow rapidly.

On Sunday, the water level at the Golden Bridge peaked at 20.92 feet. However, as the inflow from upstream decreased to 73,803 cubic feet, five gates were closed by 2 PM. The outflow from the dam into the river is currently 145,000 cubic feet, causing the river level at the Golden Bridge to drop to 20.86 feet by 4 PM, while the Narmada Dam level decreased to 132.18 meters.

With the decrease in inflow from upstream, the release of water from the Narmada Dam has also reduced. The dam had previously opened ten gates due to a massive inflow of water from the upstream. However, the inflow has started to decline gradually, resulting in a significant drop in the water level at the dam by Sunday evening.

The average inflow was less than 100,000 cubic feet, leading to the release of 144,800 cubic feet of water from the ten opened gates of the Sardar Sarovar Dam. Currently, the water level at the dam stands at 132.13 meters. It is noteworthy that due to the continuous inflow of water, the dam had opened fifteen gates to release water, but now, with the decrease in inflow, there is also a reduction in the water level. Furthermore, 15,050 cubic feet of water is being released into the main canal for various irrigation projects in the state.
