New Chandkheda Takes Action Against Illegal Naming of Squares

In New Chandkheda, a rapidly developing area near Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, local authorities have taken serious steps against illegal activities. Recently, boards with names for squares were put up without any official approval. These boards have now been removed by the local administration.

New Chandkheda is situated at the border of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. This area has seen a surge in illegal constructions, with residents naming squares and setting up boards without permission. The issue came to the attention of the authorities, leading to the swift removal of boards that were illegally placed along the road from Satyasquare to Damru Circle. This includes names like Dev Narayan Chowk, Hanuman Chowk, and Vithal Marg.

Talking to the local corporator, it was noted that the area falls under the jurisdiction of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and has been developing rapidly. More residential buildings are being constructed, and the community is growing. However, residents have taken liberties in naming these squares without any request or proposal to the AMC.

Despite the lack of official requests, residents have assigned names to the squares on their own. Once the authorities became aware of this situation, immediate action was taken to remove these unofficial boards.

Furthermore, the administration plans to start removing street vendors and other illegal encroachments from public roads. However, this raises a question about the many open government plots in the area. The AMC has not put up fencing or walls around these plots, which has allowed junkyards and illegal constructions to spring up.

It is worth mentioning that this area is part of a legislative assembly constituency represented by Alpesh Thakor, while the central home minister represents the Lok Sabha constituency. Despite this, New Chandkheda is facing a lack of basic amenities such as government schools, libraries, parks for senior citizens, and healthcare centres.

The action to remove illegal encroachments is welcomed, but there is also an urgent need for concrete measures to improve local facilities for residents. The community is eager for essential services and infrastructure as the area continues to develop.

In summary, the removal of illegally named squares is a step towards better governance in New Chandkheda. The local administration’s commitment to addressing illegal activities is crucial for the area’s future. Residents hope that along with these actions, their needs for better public services will also be addressed.
