Hiral Jadeja, a controversial figure linked to a former MLA, is in legal trouble again. A fresh police complaint has been lodged against her in Porbandar. The complaint involves a loan of ₹75 lakh that escalated into a demand for over ₹4 crore due to penalties and interest. This situation has raised serious concerns about money lending practices in the region.
Hiral Jadeja, known for her involvement in high-interest money lending, has been accused of exploitation. The complainant, Harish Postariya, borrowed money from Bhura Munja back in 2012. After the death of Munja in 2016, Hiral Jadeja began to collect the debts. Despite selling assets worth ₹16 crore and repaying a portion of the debt, Harish claims she still demanded more money, putting his family in distress.
Harish’s family, once engaged in the fishing business with 18 boats, is now struggling. They have been forced to live in rented accommodation. Reports suggest that Harish’s nephew runs the business but has faced threats from Hiral Jadeja. Recently, he bravely reported the threats to the police, providing audio evidence.
Hiral Jadeja remains in Junagadh jail, facing multiple charges including weapon possession, kidnapping, and cyber fraud. This recent complaint highlights ongoing issues surrounding loan sharking in Gujarat. Law enforcement has been instructed to take strict actions against those involved in high-interest lending practices.
The fishing industry in Porbandar, vital for local livelihoods, is now overshadowed by these legal troubles. Harish Postariya had previously invested in a fish factory and properties, but the financial strain has disrupted his business operations.
Police have noted that these high-interest lending practices are illegal and have warned the public against dealing with such individuals. They aim to curb the growing number of complaints related to money lending scams.
The situation has drawn attention to the need for better financial education and protection for borrowers in Gujarat. Many individuals fall prey to high-interest loans, often leading to severe consequences for their families.
Authorities are now working to ensure that victims like Harish receive justice. They encourage anyone facing similar situations to come forward and report it, ensuring that the law addresses these predatory practices effectively. The case of Hiral Jadeja serves as a reminder of the importance of financial literacy and the risks associated with unregulated lending.
