In a recent operation, the Local Crime Branch (LCB) team in Siddhpur seized a large quantity of foreign liquor that was being transported in a Fortuner vehicle. This incident took place near the riverbed in Mudana, a village in the Patan district of Gujarat. The LCB acted on a tip-off about illegal liquor transportation in the area. The vehicle, with the registration number GJ 18.BM.6042, was carrying Indian-made foreign liquor. The team set up a blockade along the river where the vehicle was expected to pass.
The driver of the vehicle, Tejaram Ajaram Sarang, along with another person, was apprehended during the operation. It was discovered that the Fortuner had a false number plate, replacing the original number GJ.01.KZ.0040. The team found a total of 2063 bottles of liquor worth about ₹7,25,806 in the vehicle.
The Siddhpur police station has registered a case regarding this incident. The police are now expanding their investigation to apprehend other individuals involved in this smuggling operation. The Patan district police chief, D.D. Choudhary, has been actively pursuing efforts to combat illegal gambling and liquor trade in the region.
