The Patan Local Crime Branch (LCB) has solved a total of ten motorcycle theft cases, recovering stolen vehicles worth Rs. 5.20 lakh. The main suspect, Fakir Mahbubshah from Sami village, was arrested near the Matravadi bridge in Patan. The police are now working to apprehend two other accomplices involved in these crimes.
According to police sources, the Patan district police chief, V.K. Nayi, directed the LCB to investigate vehicle thefts in the area. Led by PI R.G. Unagar, the team developed a solid action plan to uncover undetected vehicle theft cases. They monitored known offenders and, on a recent operation, caught a suspect with a stolen motorcycle. During questioning, he confessed to committing ten thefts with two accomplices. He revealed that they had hidden the stolen bikes in Sami.
The LCB team seized a total of ten motorcycles from various companies, valued at Rs. 5,20,000. The arrested suspect, Fakir Mahbubshah, lives near the bus station in Sami, Patan. He has been handed over to the Patan City ‘B’ Division Police Station for legal proceedings. The police are intensifying efforts to capture the other two suspects, Abdul Qasim Sindhi from Amrapur and Sameer Habibbhai Sipay from Sami.
This case is part of a larger effort by the Patan LCB to tackle property-related crimes in the district and nearby areas. The police have been actively monitoring gangs involved in such thefts using both technical and human intelligence. Recently, they received a tip-off about a burglary at a motor rewinding shop in the Radhanpur area, leading to further investigations.
Three individuals were arrested in connection with that case, where goods worth Rs. 5.32 lakh, including copper wire and electrical materials, were stolen. The suspects confessed during police interrogation, revealing their methods and the involvement of other individuals, allowing the police to recover a significant portion of the stolen items.
The swift response by the Patan LCB has not only resolved these theft cases but has also restored confidence among local traders, who felt vulnerable due to rising crime. Many have expressed gratitude towards the police for their efforts in catching the criminals.
The investigation continues as authorities aim to identify the mastermind behind these thefts and whether there is a larger network involved. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the police, as safety is a right for every citizen. The Patan LCB’s proactive approach serves as an inspiration for law enforcement in other districts, highlighting the importance of community cooperation in fighting crime.
