Recruitment Scam Exposed in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation

A major recruitment scam has been uncovered at the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). Eight employees were suspended with immediate effect after it was revealed they obtained their jobs through fraudulent means. These employees secured positions under the fixed pay scheme for the year 2023-24 by manipulating their exam scores. The main suspect in this case is Pulkit Sathwara, a suspended head clerk from AMC’s central office, whose involvement led to these decisive actions.

In recent years, there has been a worrying trend of people obtaining government jobs through scams in the state. It is crucial for the authorities to take steps to ensure that genuine candidates secure employment.

According to media sources, Pulkit Sathwara increased the marks of eight candidates between May 2023 and October 2024. These candidates applied for positions such as sub-inspector in the estate department, assistant surveyor, and assistant sanitary sub-inspector in the health and solid waste management department. Due to the inflated scores, they made it onto the merit list and were hired. However, they now face the loss of their jobs.

Following the revelation of this recruitment fraud, AMC’s Bharatiya Janata Party officials and the municipal commissioner formed a committee to investigate all recruitment processes carried out from 2021 to 2025. This committee consists of two deputy municipal commissioners and three senior officials, who have been tasked with reviewing the hiring practices of the last five years.

The investigation aims to prevent such incidents in the future and to restore trust in the recruitment process within the AMC. The findings of this committee will determine if further actions are necessary against other officials involved in fraudulent hiring practices.

This incident emphasizes the importance of transparency and integrity in public sector recruitment. Citizens are hoping that the investigation will lead to stricter measures against corruption and ensure that deserving candidates get the opportunities they need. The public’s faith in the recruitment process can only be restored through accountability and fair practices.

As this story develops, residents of Ahmedabad and surrounding areas are keen to see the outcomes of the committee’s findings and any additional actions taken by the AMC. The need for a clean and fair hiring process in government jobs has never been more pressing.

In conclusion, the scandal at the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation serves as a reminder of the ongoing issues of corruption in government recruitment. It highlights the necessity for rigorous checks and balances to ensure that the right people are selected for public service roles. As the investigation unfolds, the community watches closely, hoping for justice and reforms in the recruitment system.
